ASTERION II: BODY AS LABYRINTH

Butoh Workshop by Valentin Tszin

This workshop is not a continuation.

It is a descent.

Asterion is not a character.

Asterion is a space that breathes through the body.

Inspired by the text of Jorge Luis Borges, we enter the logic of the labyrinth, a structure without exit, without center, without outside.

What if the body itself is this labyrinth?

ABOUT THE WORK

In this workshop, we approach butoh not as form, but as condition.

We explore:

• the body as an internal architecture

• repetition as existence

• stillness as movement

• isolation as perception

• the disappearance of intention

Movement is not expression.

Movement is a corridor.

Each state is a room.

Each action is a delay.

PRACTICE

The work is based on deep physical and perceptual transformation.

Participants will engage in:

• long-duration stillness and minimal movement

• exploration of weight, gravity, and collapse

• spatial repetition and internal pathways

• distortion of habitual body structures

• voice as resonance, not communication

At times, nothing will happen.

This is part of the work.

This workshop is for:

• performers, dancers, actors

• artists working with body and perception

• anyone interested in butoh beyond aesthetics
